Safe and healthy work environments are essential to the wellbeing of employees, as well as to the long-term sustainability of any company’s operations.
DHL Supply Chain wanted to elevate health and safety within the business, to raise its importance to sit alongside other key initiatives. There was a clear need to ensure employees understood that providing a safe workplace is not only an integral part of DHL’s ESG strategy, but also imperative to their own welfare.
To launch this renewed focus on health and safety, we used the concept ‘Our Safety is in Our Hands’, to explain how it’s up to all employees to keep themselves, and each other, safe. The ambition of the campaign was to teach and champion clear communications that encourage safe and healthy behaviours.
To launch the campaign, we produced guides for employees and managers, along with a short explainer video to introduce the concept of ‘Our Safety is in Our Hands’.
We developed a 12-month campaign focusing on a different HSE element each month – including wellbeing and mental health, personal safety, collisions, transport and working from heights. This meant that each message could land with the necessary impact.
This campaign was shortlisted in the Safety and Health Excellence Awards in the ‘Best Campaign’ category, won Platinum at the MUSE Creative Awards in the ‘Strategic Program – Internal Comm Campaign’ category, and won ‘Best Frontline Engagement’ at the Simplys Awards.
DHL Supply Chain has seen a significant cultural shift in Health & Safety practices – safety is now front of mind for all employees, not just managers. Employees are better equipped to be responsible for their own actions and able to support colleagues to follow best practice and ensure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day.
