We’re Planet Mark Certified
Like many businesses in recent years, we’ve realised that we have a substantial responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint. To help protect our planet we’ve changed our business practices, embarked on a continuous learning journey with our team and have become very thoughtful about the suppliers we choose to buy from.
As part of our sustainability efforts and culture change, we signed up to Planet Mark, to help us measure our carbon output and reach our carbon reduction goals. We’re now very proud to announce that we’ve been accredited with the Planet Mark Business Certification. This is an incredible achievement that involved the entire business and represents a big step forward on our sustainability journey.
What is Planet Mark?
The Planet Mark Business Certification is an internationally recognised sustainability certification for businesses that acknowledges continuous progress, encourages action and builds an empowered community of like-minded individuals.
Through Planet Mark, we’ve protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity that works alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Our pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru. We’ve also supported the Eden Project – an educational charity is exploring how we can work together towards a more sustainable future.
Our future goal with Planet Mark is to reduce our carbon emissions by a further 5%. We’re on this sustainability journey for the long-haul and we will continue to work to have a positive impact through our business. And we hope that we can empower and inspire our community to take climate action and stop climate change as we continue our journey.
What next for Something Big?
The past couple of years have taught us all valuable lessons, and we’ve used these lessons to radically change our business. We’re now an employee-owned business, which has enabled us to be a more equitable, ethical, and people-focused organisation, but our changes don’t stop there.
Our intention is not just to make a small difference, tick the box and move onto the next project. Sustainability and inclusivity have become part of our business model so we are currently working towards becoming a certified B Corp, which will help us to cement our long-term commitment to focusing equally on our people, profit and planet.
