The cornerstone of any successful business lies in its ability to attract, secure, and retain top talent. Right from the moment a new employee signs their employment contract, it’s crucial for them to feel confident that they have made the right choice and ready to excel in their new role.

Grappling with a fiercely competitive job market, increasing employee turnover in frontline roles, and a new generation with high expectations entering the workforce, DHL Supply Chain needed a solution to retain its top talent. To achieve this, it was vital for new starters to feel engaged and supported right from the beginning, and to help them feel like an integral part of the team.

To support new starters in feeling confident, excited, motivated, and engaged in their new role and the business, we needed to create a best-in-class, global, digital, employee onboarding experience.

Bringing the onboarding journey together in one seamless narrative

DHL Supply Chain live by the strategy of #TogetherUnstoppable. We wanted to bring #TogetherUnstoppable to life for new starters, evolving DHL Supply Chain’s existing employer branding recruitment campaign into an onboarding experience.

We used ‘together’ as the hook to bring the onboarding journey together in one seamless narrative, showing new starters that they are joining a collaborative and supportive team, helping to foster a greater sense of belonging.

The journey of onboarding a new employee at DHL Supply Chain now begins with preboarding, right after the employment contract is signed. This experience is carefully planned in order to introduce the new employee to the company, giving them the right information at the right time. The goal is to build excitement around joining the world’s largest logistics company and boost their confidence in their ability to unlock their full potential. The onboarding process continues for three months, ending with a celebration of the impact made by the new employee thus far within DHL Supply Chain.

What was the meaningful difference?

By evolving DHL Supply Chain’s existing employer branding recruitment campaign into an onboarding experience, the campaign successfully brought to life the #TogetherUnstoppable strategy, fostering a greater sense of belonging and highlighting the collaborative and supportive nature of the team.

Our creative has resulted in a seamless, engaging, and supportive onboarding experience that sets new starters up for success. The carefully considered onboarding plan is a demonstration of DHL’s commitment to its purpose of ‘Connecting People, Improving Lives’.
